The Lac du Flambeau Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians are requesting CDC funding to assist in their efforts at preventing, reducing, and mitigating the spread of the COVID-19 virus to the Lac du Flambeau Reservation. These efforts are focused on COVID-19 related monitoring, surveillance and communications activities, as well as COVID-19 testing and contact tracing, for all residents, employees, and visitors to the reservation. In order to coordinate these efforts in a clear and directed manner, the Tribe has activated their Incident Command Team (ICT), as part of their Emergency Management Program's Pre-Disaster Mitigation plan. While the ICT's primary focus is on the COVID-19 pandemic, their efforts, in coordination with tribal, local, state and federal governments and governmental agencies ranging from the Lac du Flambeau Town, State of Wisconsin Department of Health and Human Services, Indian Health Services, Great Lakes Inter-Tribal Council and the Iron, Vilas and Oneida County Public Health Departments, are also focused on preparing for additional "waves" of COVID-19 virus exposure, to minimize the impact on the residents, employees, and visitors to the reservation.
