Day One and Young & Healthy have developed Toma! to increase ACEs protective factors by increasing EITC receipts. Our project team will use culturally competent and linguistically appropriate programming to engage, educate, and assist low-income communities of color in the low-income opportunity zones of Pomona, El Monte, NW Pasadena, and Altadena to: Increase local capacity, by training 50+ local organizations on EITC benefits in correlation to ACEs. 1. Developing and managing a cohort of free tax preparation volunteers. 2. Identify and support 500+ EITC eligible applicants in accessing free tax preparation services. 3. Educate a minimum of 1000 people per city (4000 total) in EITC benefits. 4. Reach 20,000 EITC potential applicants via social media campaigns, PSA’s and creative marketing efforts. All goals are intended to lead to an increased individual or household income, that will directly improve protective factors associated with adverse childhood experiences.
