Advancing Equitable Access to Coordinated TBI-Informed Services in Nebraska - This project aims to improve access to coordinated, high-quality traumatic brain injury (TBI) services across Nebraska, with a focus on reducing barriers, increasing participation in evidence-based supports, and promoting independence, self-determination, and community integration, particularly for individuals living in rural areas. From October 1, 2026, through September 30, 2029, Nebraska Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) will strengthen identification, engagement, service delivery, and collaboration across behavioral health, vocational rehabilitation, and community support systems. Key objectives include implementing TBI screening and workforce training in Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinics, expanding access to vocational rehabilitation and Resource Facilitation services through assistive technology and compensatory strategies, enhancing stakeholder engagement through the Brain Injury Advisory Council, and improving outreach and follow-up efforts within the TBI Registry. Expected outcomes include increased identification of individuals with TBI, improved access to TBI-informed services, stronger stakeholder partnerships, expanded community supports, and improved health, quality of life, and independence for Nebraskans with TBI. Project products will include screening protocols, training and technical assistance materials, public education resources, partnership agreements, data reports, and enhanced registry outreach processes.
