Objectives: The Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) provides funding and technical support to survivors of torture programs in the United States. The primary objective of the Direct Services for Survivors of Torture (DS SOT) grant program is to provide holistic services using an integrated, strengths-based, and trauma-informed approach to assist survivors in managing their health and rebuilding their lives. A secondary objective is to increase awareness of the needs of survivors, build local service capacity, expand access to services, and promote sustainable, quality care for survivors through education, training, strategic partnerships, and client evaluations. The main objectives of the Technical Assistance to the Survivors of Torture grant program are to: 1) Build the capacity of DS SOT recipients and ORR-funded organizations to provide effective, holistic, and integrated services to survivors and their families; and 2) Assess and strengthen the quality and sustainability of services provided by DS SOT recipients to improve effectiveness and ensure availability beyond the project period.
