The New Britain Local Prevention Council was awarded a FY 2020 Drug-Free Communities Support Program grant in the amount of $625,000 by the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy, in cooperation with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The Coalition serves New Britain Connecticut, a community of 73,069. The goals of the coalition are to establish and strengthen community collaboration in support of local efforts to prevent youth substance use. The coalition will achieve its goals by implementing these strategies: (1) Increase the capacity of the community and its sectors to reduce youth substance abuse (2) Disseminate culturally sensitive prevention materials to reach the community at large. (3) Increase perception of harm around alcohol and marijuana use through community action strategies. (4) Increase parent involvement in anti-drug use message to youth (5) Decrease youth access to alcohol and marijuana
