Project Abstract Summary: Summary; Our project will utilize funds to build our capacity to provide additional Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) services to our growing population of Opioid Use Disorder (OUD) patients. This will include the hiring of a 1/2 time Medical Clinician and a 1/2 time Clinical Nurse who will be responsible for treating Tribal members with OUD. We will also add an additional Evidence Based Practice to our treatment options. We will be able to increase the number of patients in our current MAT program from 56 to 124 over the two year project period.
Project Name: " Confederated Salish & Kootenai Tribes (CSKT) - Tribal Opioid Response Project"
Population Served: Enrolled members of the CSKT. There are a total of 7,900 enrolled Tribal members with approximately 5,000 living on the reservation.
Demographics: The projects service area will be the Flathead Indian Reservation. The reservation encompasses 1.3 million acres and is 70 miles long by 40 miles wide.
Strategies: Our strategy is to hire additional providers so that we can enroll more Tribal members into our successful MAT program that has bee in existence for over 12 years.
Goal: "To improve the health and wellness of Tribal Members who are struggling with OUD by providing the highest quality of care based on our Tribal Values."
Objective 1: During the project period of September 30, 2018 through September 29, 2020, the CSKT will increase the capacity of our MAT program to serve more participants by hiring one (1) provider and one (1) clinical nurse to our staff as measured by employment records on file.
Objective 2: During the project period of September 30, 2018 through September 29, 2020, the CSKT will increase MAT participation levels from 56 to 125 (69 unduplicated number) as measured by participant records on file.
Objective 3: During the project period of September 30, 2018 through September 29, 2020, the CSKT will increase the education and awareness of opioid prevention, treatment, and recovery support services available to our Tribal membership as measured by records fliers. radio spots, social media posts, and other media devices on file.
Objective 4: During the project period of September 30, 2018 through September 29, 2010, the CSKT will increase the number of MAT treatment options available to OUD patients by including Vivitrol to our approved list of options as measured by records of prescriptions dispensed on file.
