Reclaiming Employment™ (RE) is an public-facing online platform that provides support for individuals with psychiatric disabilities to pursue self-employment and entrepreneurship. The goal of RE is to improve employment and workforce participation outcomes by increasing: 1) competencies for individuals with psychiatric disabilities who wish to become self-employed, and 2) the ability to sustain and grow for those already operating small businesses. Through the following objectives, this 3-year Field Initiated Development Project will develop RE into a fully-integrated, working prototype for an adoption-ready product with an evidence base: Objective 1. Complete and implement a full-scale prototype of the RE platform. Objective 2. Test the full-scale RE prototype to assess user experiences and outcomes. Objective 3. Refine the RE technology transfer plan in collaboration with our partners. The outcomes of this project will be a full-featured platform with empirical evidence ready for broader adoption by the target population and service systems. Based on our collaborations and planning with our SAC and Strategic Partners, as well as user research, at the end of the project we will have a revised Technology Transfer Plan, including a marketing and launch strategy, ready to onboard inaugural users. The final product will provide three key offerings, accessible through a single sign-on: Library provides resources through curated external links. Courses provide asynchronous, self-paced learning. Network is a lightly moderated social support forum., Live & Learn, Inc. a service user-led research and consulting firm that partners with consultants with lived experience of both disability and self-employment as well as research, curriculum design and training, and new media organizations to support the project objectives.
