Highlights

awards totaling $147.6 billion.
- HCFA, which administers the Medicaid Program, awarded 66% ($111.8
billion) of the total DHHS grant funds, representing less than 1%
of the total number of grants.
- ACF awarded the second highest percentage (22%, $36.9 billion) of
the total DHHS grant funds, which represents 12% of the total
number of grants.
- The other ten OPDIVs awarded between 1% and 7% of the remaining 13%
of DHHS FY 1999 grant funds.
- NIH awarded 69% (42,073) of the total number of DHHS grants in FY
1999, which is 52% of the discretionary grant funds, but only 7% of
the total DHHS grant funds. The remaining OPDIVs awarded between 1%
and 12% of the total number of grants.
